About Lucy

Lucy was born October 2, 2002 at 10:10 AM.  Her birth was simple, peaceful, joyful, and gratifying.  She was born under water and stole our heart the moment we laid eyes on her.

We took Lucy for a checkup with a local midwife and she calmly told us she was concerned about a lack of “red reflex” in Lucy’s eyes and her fontanel (soft spots) didn’t seem right either.  We were a little worried, but figured whatever it was…she would be ok.

We took her to see specialists and have tests run…we were told she was probably blind, she might have to have her eyes removed, she was missing apart of her brain, and would likely be handicapped to the point of total reliance upon us for survival for most…if not all of her life.

Luckily we found Dr.Miriam Mills and she assured us that no one knows what Lucy will do…and we shouldn’t worry about what the specialists and tests had told us.

She is almost five now, and you’d be amazed at all that Lucy can do!
